Studies

My career as a designer began when I decided to follow my passion for creativity. I studied Fine Art and Contemporary Craft at TAFE, which refined my eye for layout and composition in an artistic sense. At the same time I completed courses at the Australian Tattoo Academy where I was able to explore tattoo design and illustration.

While I was job hunting in the creative field after completing my courses and read the description for a ‘Graphic Designer’ role at Catch of the Day. It wasn’t until then that I knew what graphic design was. I decided to continue learning and studied a Diploma of Graphic Design at CATC school of design.

After completing my diploma, I landed my first big client- The Australian Sports Museum at the MCG in Melbourne, where I created an interactive learning tool loaded to their Android tablets for school groups to use on excursions.

My close friends at CATC really encouraged me to further my learning with them and we continued together and completed our Bachelor of Communication Design at Billy Blue College of Design (now Torrens University).

Experience

Soon after graduation I restarted my freelance career with Eight Clients social media marketing agency as my leading account, where I had the opportunity to work with and create digital work for a number of large companies and businesses.

I took on a second leading account with United Petroleum Group which had just acquired Pie Face Australia. After a few months, I was hired as lead designer for Pie Face which saw me take creative direction across packaging, print and POS for the brand while at the same time creating United Petroleum product branding and packaging.

During the pandemic I started a new opportunity with Petcover Group as a digital designer to assist in the launch of Petcover in Austria, New Zealand, France and Ireland while rejuvenating existing brands British Pet Insurance, Petcover AU and Petplan AU + NZ.

Learning

My growth and learning journey continues as I strive to push myself as a creative. I’m always learning, always trying new things and always creating. During my time in lockdown I worked on creating art for my home, I tried furniture restoration and reupholstering, and with some left over fabric, I helped my sister sew a vintage smoking jacket. I also took full advantage of my Skillshare account and learned more animation techniques, 3D modelling and texturing.

Most recently I’ve decided to dive further into digital design and refresh my skills in UX/UI and front end coding at Monash University’s UX/UI 6 Month Bootcamp.
